On June 16, 2015, Trump made a formal announcement of his candidacy. Front-runner, Donald Trump’s presidential slogan is “Make America Great Again.” He has pledged to restore the American dream; he has pledged to try to give everyone an equal opportunity if the US citizens are willing to work for what they want. Trump has said that he wants to better America, to finish the Mexican border fence and make them pay for it, fund social security, and oppose federal common core. Trump plans to fund his own campaign without donors and lobbyists.

Trump lost many people who were backing him when he said that he believed the illegal immigrants were bringing trouble along with them making claims they brought, drugs, crime, and then called them rapists. Many businesses cut ties with Trump as to not be tied to these accusations. Trump also has some big critics with the Liberty North students.

“He has a very strong opinions and he definitely does not have a filter. Do we really want someone running the country that has filed for bankruptcy numerous times? He knows nothing about anything. He is not in the loop with anything that goes on and that is an important thing to have,” senior Erin Wadle said.

There are also students at Liberty North that are not totally against Donald Trump becoming president.

“He is a businessman, maybe he is going to take what he knows, and work to get our country out of so much debt,” junior Sadie Bryant said.
