Young The Giant Album Review

Baileigh Arant, Reporter

The indie rock band, Young The Giant, released a new album in late January called, Mind Over Matter. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be as good as the first self titled album, which came out in 2010, but this one definitely impressed me. Usually sophomore albums aren’t as good as the first ones because the bands are trying too hard, but that is not the case with this album.

Unlike the first one, the band decided to take on more of an energetic twist with their latest. Each one of their songs shows a definite sound, but yet each one is so unique. My favorite track on the album would be “It’s About Time” which was the first single they released. This song features a more upbeat sound, and catchy lyrics.

I would compare this band to Kings of Leon, Cage The Elephant, The Artic Monkeys, or AWOLNATION. For fans of Young The Giant, they will be coming to the Midland on March 19th.  I’m looking forward to this concert, as I will be attending!
