Future Teachers

EIP, Educational Internship Program, is a way for high school students to interact with younger kids in a positive learning environment. The EIP program is designed to improve teaching methods for future students who are interested in going into the education field.

“I like how much interaction we get with little kids and how we ourselves are helping them grow in the learning world, I also love kids. That is a big reason why I am in the program,” senior Kaesi Thee said.

Thee seems to enjoy being apart of students lives and advancing them in a positive manner.

“From this program I would like to gain patience and better skills when dealing with children,” Thee said.

There is a lot to learn when it comes to interacting with kids in a respectful and positive way.

“EIP has affected my day because usually I’m stressed from school and when I get there, I immediately become happier because my students get super excited to see me,” Thee said.

Senior Emily Williamson also seems to enjoy the EIP program. She seems to love working with her kids while expanding her knowledge on teaching.

“My 1st graders make me so happy. Teaching and helping them literally turns my bad day to a good day. Also, I love little kids! I feel like that I can keep them under control, which is shocking. They bring positivity to my day just because they’re always happy to see me,” Williamson said.

Williamson sees EIP as a positive and happy environment.

“I joined the program because I think that I want to be a teacher. I love helping other people academically and in other ways. Helping others makes me happy so I think teaching is a good path for me,” Williamson said.

Williamson is using EIP as a stepping stone in her teaching career.

“From the program I would like to gain the tools to become a better teacher and making sure they get the best education in the best possible way. As well as improving on the stuff I have already gained like, keeping the kids paying attention and engaged, making sure they do their work but also letting them learn in a fun creative way,” Williamson said.

For Williamson EIP is a learning tool to help her become the best teacher she can be.

“I feel like I have made an impact on my students in a way that I have shown them that they can have a best friend but a teacher at the same time because I act like all their best friend while making sure they’re learning what they’re supposed to be learning,” Williamson said.

Williamson wants to show that there can be a balance between friend a teacher to her students.

“It has affected my regular days at school because I could be upset in the morning and then I’d go see them and I’m happy for the rest of the day. They just make my day better and seeing them relieves any stress that I may have. It also allows me to have a nice break in my day,” Williamson said.

For many people including Williamson the EIP program can be a stress reliever.

“Everyone should do it. Everyone would love it,” Williamson said.
