Women’s Tennis Falls to Liberty

The Liberty North Women’s Tennis suffered a hard loss against cross town rivals during Tuesday’s match at Bennett Park.

“Liberty is known as a really tough team and playing them was a match with a lot of pressure on us. It was a fun match overall because many of us know girls on their team and just knowing we weren’t expected to win took off a lot of added expectations we experience with other schools,” sophomore Claire Mason said.

Along with playing a tough team, the girls also had to deal with conflicting weather. The high was 73 degrees with wind gusts between ten and twenty miles per hour.

“The wind really affected the way that my doubles partner and I played. The wind carried the ball on one side and pushed against it on the other. It was difficult to adjust to,” senior Avery Covey said.

Both Varsity and JV fell to the Blue Jays. The Lady Eagles have lost against Liberty in other past years.

“Liberty has a way bigger team than we do and they have a lot of talent in their higher ranks. It was great experience playing against them even though we lost. You get better by playing challenging opponents,” Mason said.
