The Lady Eagles Softball Team Strikes Again

The Liberty North softball team are once again conference champs. They solidified the spot by defeating Park Hill South on Tuesday by a run spread of 12-2. The last time the lady eagles won this title was in 2014. The overall record for conference play was 9-1.

“There’s really no other feeling. This has been a goal we’ve had since the end of last year, so being able to check that off the list especially my senior year is something special”, senior Destiny Ojigoh said.

The Liberty North softball team has been quite successful over the little time it has been open. In a time span of six years the varsity squads have managed to win three conference championships, three district titles and a sectionals win too.

“My time here on the softball team has been very special. I just happened to come in at a very good time where the talent spectrum is just through the roof, which makes my life very easy. These past couple of years have definitely have been some of the best and I am just happy I could help contribute” junior Ava Curry said.

The softball team picks back up on Thursday, October 6th at Fort Osage for districts. The eagles were awarded with the number two seed, which means they get a by the first set of games. The schedule shows that North will either play William Chrisman or cross town rivals, Liberty, in the semi-finals.

“I feel very confident in our abilities as a team this year. Unfortunately, we did lose to liberty earlier this season, but we’ve been doing a lot of things to make sure that doesn’t happen again and that our best possible team is what steps out on the field during districts. Yes, winning conference is fun, but we have another goal that we are looking forward to accomplishing as well”, sophomore Sydney Goss said.
