Long Distance Love

When you begin a relationship with a person in the grade above, you don’t normally consider what long distance will be like when they go off to college, right off the bat. But, as the months go by quickly and the realization hits that they leave in less than two weeks, it becomes all too real. Long distance is tough, but worth it if you like/love the person enough.

With long distance relationships, a little give and take is a necessity. One person can’t be constantly driving the distance to visit, when the other is never making that effort to visit the other person. There has to be a mutual desire to continue the relationship and do whatever it takes to make it work. Without that, it is hard to have a successful relationship. Communication is even more important than actually visiting. Texting, FaceTiming, and phone calls are so special when you don’t get to see your significant other in person often. Texting 24/7, every second of everyday, can get to be too much, but making sure to give the other person a call every once in awhile is all it takes. And lastly, trust is huge. You find out pretty quick how the relationship will be if your first thought is that they will cheat on you while they’re away. So, make sure you trust that person before going into long distance.

Long distance is difficult, but very worth it if you love that person. It makes the calls and texts more meaningful, and the visits so special. It is all up to the couple in what their decision is, but as they say, distance makes the heart grow fonder.
