What’s the deal: Brett Kavanaugh

September 30, 2018

President Donald Trump has nominated Brett Kavanaugh for the supreme court.  After hearing about this, Christine Blasey Ford has accused Kavanaugh of sexual assault and the hearing is today, September 27th, 2018.

“I am here today not because I want to be. I am terrified. I am here because I believe it is my civic duty,” Christine Blasey Ford said.

Ford knew that when she accused Kavanaugh she would be put into the spotlight and her life would change forever. Ford was scared to tell anyone what Kavanaugh did to her and pressed the memory down pretending that it did not happen. After Ford got the courage to say something, she started to receive positive and negative support. People even started to give her family death threats.

“My greatest fears have been realized – and the reality has been far worse than what I expected,” Ford said.

We do not yet know how the trial will end. If Kavanaugh is decided not guilty, then he will continue and become a member of the Supreme Court. Ford insists that she was not motivated by politics to claim that she was assaulted but to educate the lawmakers and people about a man who could serve a life sentence on the supreme court.

“My motivation in coming forward was to provide the facts about how Mr. Kavanaugh’s actions have damaged my life so that you can take that into serious consideration as you make your decision about how to proceed,” Ford said.
