Holiday Traditions

Tradition means repetition of customs or beliefs from generation to generation. All around the country unique customs have been made for the celebration of Christmas. Many kids all throughout Liberty North have varying traditions that happen in their own families during the holiday times.

“On Christmas eve my entire family and I go to the movie theaters. After the movie we all come back to my house to spend the night. We watch It’s a Wonderful Life all together and bake cookies for santa to eat. To top it all off we are allowed to open one present that night, which is always a new pair of pajamas,” junior Ben Mattes said.

Christmas day is celebrated worldwide. It is a day that is celebrated for the birth of Christ by the Christians. This day means a lot to many people.

“Christmas morning the kids are always waking up the parents. We Are forced to take pictures on the stairs no matter how old we are and then we get released to see the presents around the corner. After that we all sit down for a big breakfast all together, Lastly we all meet up later at my grandma’s house that night for more presents for more families, sophomore Maddie Elder said.

Traveling is another holiday tradition that is more common than some may think. Many want to be with their loved ones on this day. Traditions can involve anything from the long car rides spent together all the way to the places that they may be going.

“This winter I am traveling to both St. Louis and Branson to see my grandparents. It’s our first year doing this, but I am very excited because I love car rides as crazy as that may sound. My family is so important to me, so just getting to spend that quality time with them during the holiday season is precious,” sophomore Kelsey Templeton said.
