“My name’s Bre Johnston and I am currently a Liberty North student. I was originally from Texas, but I am military brat so we moved around a lot. Coming to Kansas City, I had to adapt and experience new things. I, at first, was not accustomed to. Cold weather was something to get use to. I had the ability to get closer with my grandparents on my mom’s side, which allowed me to have a different outlook on life. My grandfather was diagnosed with six different types of cancer in six years. Seeing one of the strongest men that I have ever met suffer and become a shell of who he once was allowed me to value life and everyone that’s in it. A life lesson I took from this is that ‘time isn’t given, it’s earned. You could be gone tomorrow, and the value of life itself is more than any materialistic thing that our generation idolizes’. Considering what he went though, I am ready to approach life with open arms, especially while furthering my education in college.”
