GSA Club at Liberty North

September 30, 2019

GSA needs more members for their club here at North. This club will meet twice every week, on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month.

“The GSA or Genders and Sexualities Alliance here at North was created with the intent to give every student regardless of sexual orientation or gender identification the opportunity to join a club that will help them feel welcomed and included. Since then we have expanded our goal and hope to make all of Liberty North a more safe and inclusive environment for anyone and everyone, starting with baby steps, like our initiative to allow gender identity fitting uniforms for the performing arts students.” senior and Vice President Eliza Hite said.

Anyone in any grade can join GSA and the club currently only has 5 members. They have participated in school activities like Nest Fest and the Diversity Festival.

“I’ve made new friends and have branched out through GSA. Its a place where you can feel included, even if you’re straight or CIS because the goal is that everyone is welcomed. It’s a place to connect with more people like you,” freshman Alica Wenger said.

New members are always wanted and there’s no sign up needed. Just ask a club member to find out when they are meeting. GSA wants everyone to feel comfortable, safe and welcomed.

“I am involved with other clubs like D & D club. I can join the club and go to the meetings as long as it works with my work schedule. I am also a part of the LGBTQ+ community.” freshman Abigail Hallman said.
