Book Club, They Don’t Just Read Books.

October 4, 2018

In the average library there are about 8,000 books and when people get together to talk about them, that’s where a Book Club begins.

“Well, I had the easy job, Ms. King had already set it up and ask me to join.” senior Brittain Wilson said.

There are books in print and online in the LMC, and there is so much to read.

“I’m gonna say there are 10,000 [books are in the library] easily, it’s probably a little higher than that. More than people would think.” senior Connie King said.

Book Club’s members have a multitude of personalities and all love to read.

“If everybody came, it would be around 40 people. Well, we talk about books, we’re trying to get more involved. We’re trying to do more things outside of the school day if you will. We also love to talk about Harry Potter.” King said.

Book Club is more than just reading a book, it’s also talking about the book and many other things.

“Most people think that in order to come to the book club you have to read the book. Some new members are afraid to come because they didn’t read the book. A misconception that’s the word. There is nothing to mess up. The misconception is that they think they have to read the book.” King said.

Book Club is also somewhere people can go to make friends.

“That they didn’t just talk about books. We talk about books and other things and getting to hang out with friends and meet new people.” junior Amy Peister said.

Book Club like other clubs has to meet at some point.

“Currently, we meet on every other Thursday, before and after school. We wanted them to participate so you can come to either meeting.” Wilson said.
