Coronavirus Update ~ Wednesday, March 25th

Here’s your daily update of the Coronavirus Outbreak in Missouri!

  • Lockdown day 2-Republican Gov. Mike Parson state that due to the State-of-Emergency Mandatory Lockdown, Missouri’s economy would be devastated. He also stated that if the lockdown works, he may cut it short.
  • As of yesterday (Tuesday, March 24th), 8 deaths have been confirmed.
  • As of also Tuesday, March 24th, 255 cases of the Coronavirus outbreak have officially been confirmed, up by 163 from Sunday, March 22nd.
  • Only 10,000 essential workers in the state of Missouri are currently working.
  • Although MO. has received truckloads of personal protection equipment (PPE), medical and emergency crews are currently deeply in need of PPE especially masks.
  • Missouri has used $2.3 million from its disaster fund. This includes “a $10 million order this week for nearly 4.3 million N95 respirator masks, O’Connell said. Among other things, the state ordered 335,000 bottles of hand sanitizer at a cost of $700,000; 95,000 surgical masks for $190,000; and 61,000 goggles for $117,000, he said.” according to News Tribune. The state of Missouri is also tapping into other various state department existing budgets in search of $18 million.
  • A Warrenton, Missouri man (Cody Pfister (26)), was charged with a low-level felony terrorist threat after repeatedly licking things in his local Walmart with the caption ‘”Who’s afraid of the coronavirus?”‘, according to the River Front Times. The video went viral.
  • As of today (Wednesday, March 25th), the US is rapidly approaching 900 Coronavirus-related deaths, currently being at 893.
  • All Missouri schools are currently canceled until April 30th, while non-essential job workers are advised to stay home.
  • Symptoms of the Coronavirus include coughing, a fever, tiredness, and severe cases include difficulty breathing.
  • Symptoms of the Coronavirus often don’t show up between the time of 1-14 days.
  • Those who are older of age and have outstanding medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease) are most affected by the Coronavirus.
  • Please continue to maintain safe quarantine guidelines while preventing socialization as much as possible, as this will rapidly spread the disease.
