Key Club Emphasizes the “Season of Caring”

During the weekend of the 14th and the 15th of December, Key Club went shopping for their adopt-a-family. Adopt-a-Family is a holiday activity key club does right before Christmas, by doing this they are helping a family who cannot really afford nice gifts for Christmas, and raise money to get gifts for them.

“Over this weekend we had an adopt-a-family shopping, which is where we adopted a family of seven, five kids and two adults. This past week we rang bells at the Liberty North invite to raise money for those gifts. This upcoming week we are wrapping up all the presents and delivering them, ” Senior Emily Vandel said.

This is not the first year Key Club has done adopt-a-family; it is a yearly tradition. Also, since Key Club is a way to volunteer, fundraising and shopping count for hours for the students involved.

“We have been doing adopt a family for three or four years now, and this is our second year of ringing bells at tournament which brings in a couple hundred dollars per year. This is good because we can buy the family real presents and give the kids toys and clothes. It’s a really good feeling,” Vandel said.
