Chance the Rapper Concert Review

All hail Chance the Rapper. Holding the title of one of the most talked about artists in hip-hop culture. At the beginning of this year Chance released the tour locations for his third album, Coloring Book. One of which being Kansas City, Missouri. Tickets sold out in minutes, but by some miracle I was able to snag one. After waiting five long months the day of the concert was afoot. My concert crew and I arrived at the Midland a solid 6 hours before the concert to guarantee us a decent spot. The doors were supposed to open at 7:30, but unfortunately Chance was late to his own concert. You could feel the tension and frustration in the air as bystanders were impatiently waiting to redeem their ticket. Come 9:30 the doors finally opened and a plethora of people bust through the doors to secure their spot in the pit. The moment that the curtains opened and Chance appeared on the stage everyone lost it. This is the moment that we had all been waiting for. His concert headlined “Angels”. A fast paced, up-beat, dance around with your friends’ song. The next four songs were hits from his second (and most popular) mixtape Acid Rap. As the performance went on it seemed as though everyone had come together as one. Everyone was in a state of euphoria and happiness. If you looked around it was easy to see how ecstatic everyone was to be in the presence of Chance the Rapper. He had the whole place booming. I have never been to a more energetic concert in my life and I have been to my fair share of concerts. As the concert came to a close Chance took a moment to thank the crowd for being so amazing, but one thing he said really stuck out to me. Right after we finished singing the surreal intro to “Summer Friends” he stopped us once again and said Kansas City was the best stop he had been to on his tour so far. Kansas City is getting more well known for its music scene, but this was the icing on the cake. Thank you Chance for a wonderful experience. Thank you for a night I will remember for the rest of my life. It was definitely one for the books.
